CAIR-NY Condemns Harassment of Delivery Driver Wearing a Keffiyeh in Brooklyn
(NEW YORK, NY, 7/8/2024) - The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, condemns the stalking and harassment of a delivery driver in Brooklyn.
The delivery driver, who was wearing a keffiyeh while completing an Uber Eats order, was subjected to verbal abuse and followed by a woman in a car. In the video, the stalker is heard saying “You f---- terrorist,” and equating the keffiyeh to the PLO. She insisted on knowing the man's last name and remarked that Israel is the only state he would see.

CAIR-NY's Executive Director, Afaf Nasher, stated:
“This alleged harassment and stalking of a delivery driver wearing a keffiyeh is despicable. For this woman to randomly approach and insist on defining this man's values, name, and knowledge about Palestine is nothing short of discrimination wrapped in arrogance. People should be able to go about their daily lives peacefully without being accosted by such intolerance.”
CAIR-NY also applauded the Kingston City Council for passing a ceasefire resolution regarding the genocide in Gaza.
CAIR-NY's mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR-NY es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
