CAIR-NY Condemns Islamophobic Rant Outside of a Masjid in Kensington
(NEW YORK, NY, 2/21/25) – The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an Islamophobic rant outside of Masjid Nur Al Islam in Brooklyn.
According to a video, earlier this week, on Tuesday, February 18th, a man wearing a New York Jets Bomber jacket chanted hateful slurs in front of the mosque.

CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher, Esq., stated:
“This blatant display of Islamophobia outside Masjid Nur Al Islam is both alarming and unacceptable. No community should be subjected to hateful harassment, especially in a space meant for worship and reflection. We urge law enforcement to take this incident seriously and ensure the safety and dignity of all New Yorkers. CAIR-NY remains committed to standing against bigotry in all its forms and advocating for the rights of our communities.”
CAIR-NY has continually called against Islamophobic acts and noticed a surge in our state since October 2023.
