CAIR-NY Condemns Hate-Filled Attack on African American Teenager at Brooklyn Subway Station

(NEW YORK, NY, 3/27/25) – The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today strongly condemns the racially motivated attack on a Black teenager at a Brooklyn subway station and continues to call on law enforcement to investigate the incident swiftly.  

According to the NYPD, a group of white teenagers physically assaulted an African American teenager at the Coney-Island, Stillwell Avenue subway station, which including screaming expletives, punching him, stealing his sneakers which were later found at the station, and throwing a banana at him. The victim was later treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries. The NYPD has since arrested the suspects involved in the attack.

Afaf Nasher, Esq., Executive Director of CAIR-NY, stated: 

“This despicable and racially charged attack is yet another example of the dangers faced by minority communities in our city. We call on law enforcement to ensure that justice is served, and we urge community and political leaders to speak out about this attack.”
