CAIR-NY Condemns Stabbing of Halal Cart Vendor

(NEW YORK, NY - 10/11/2024)— The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today condemned the stabbing of a Halal Cart Vendor by Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Campus.

Last night, an unidentified man stabbed Ayman Mustafa while he was on the job. The attacker approached from behind the halal cart and tried to force his way in. Mustafa told the man not to enter, but the assailant pulled out a knife. A struggle ensued as the man attempted to break into the cart, during which he stabbed Mustafa in his arm, just above the elbow, and then ran. Mustafa filed a police report and received medical attention due to his injuries.

“Our streets must be a safe space for everyone, including hardworking vendors like Ayman Mustafa. We strongly condemn this horrific attack and are grateful to law enforcement for their quick response. We hope the matter is taken with the seriousness it deserves and that the perpetrator is brought to justice swiftly.”

Earlier this week, CAIR-NY condemned the mugging and assault of an Asian woman.
