CAIR-NY Condemns Suspected Hate Crime Targeting Yoga Center in Brooklyn
(NEW YORK, NY - 7/28/2023) The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today strongly condemned the recent incident of vandalism and destruction at a yoga center in Brooklyn in what appears to be a heinous hate crime.
According to reports, a man broke in and drew a swastika and Nazi reference on a chalkboard of the center. Once inside, he further caused damage to religious items including a mezuzah.

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher said:
“CAIR-NY strongly condemns this act of senseless violence and hatred. Incidents like these underscore the urgent need for increased education and awareness about the damaging impact of hate-fueled actions. We call upon local law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this matter and bring the perpetrator to justice.”
