CAIR-NY Condemns Racist Attack on Black Woman in Brooklyn

(NEW YORK, NY, 04/07/2023) - The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today condemned the apparent racist attack on a Black woman in Brooklyn.
A 34-year-old Black woman was attacked by a man in an apparent hate crime in the Bronx. The alleged perpetrator reportedly hurled a racist slur at the victim before assaulting her. The New York Police Department (NYPD) is currently investigating the incident as a hate crime.

CAIR-NY's Executive Director Afaf Nasher, Esq. said:
"We are deeply disturbed by the reported attack on this Black woman. We stand with the victim, and we urge the NYPD to bring the perpetrator to justice. We ask anyone who witnessed this alleged anti-black assault to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.”
She added CAIR-NY and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Jewish hatred, anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
